Vedic Meditation · IFSU Belgium · Ath

You know
that kind of tiredness.
Not the physical kind.
The other one.

People talk a lot about silence. Few live it. IFSU Vedic meditation is a concrete, individual method, passed down in a direct lineage since 1975 — for those who feel ready to go further, at their own pace.

It doesn't matter who you are.

Who is it for?

At some point,
you realise
it's no longer enough.

Maybe you already meditate — apps, YouTube videos, guided sessions. And that's good. But something is missing. There's a background noise in your head that never really goes quiet.

Maybe there was no catastrophe, just this dull feeling that your life should be more than it is. That you could know yourself better.

Or maybe there was something — a crisis, a loss, a break-up — and since then you've been looking for a real anchor.

◦
The rumination won't stop. Even when everything's fine, the mind carries on. At night especially.
◦
You want something deep. To get to the root.
◦
Meditation apps haven't convinced you. Too superficial, too generic. You're looking for something else.
◦
You've been through a difficult period — burn-out, bereavement, separation — and something inside you has reopened.
◦
You're looking for inner silence, really. Not as a concept. As an experience.

What I can tell you honestly

This meditation isn't for everyone. And that's one of the things I appreciate about this method: it doesn't pretend to be.

It starts at 20 minutes, once a day. Then it builds up, session after session. That's not a slogan: it's this gradual build-up that lets the practice work in depth.

Maybe this demand impresses you a little. Maybe you tell yourself “not now”, or “I don't feel ready for that yet”. That's normal — and it isn't giving up.

The Meditation Discovery workshop offers a lighter framework: three Thursday evenings or two Saturday afternoons, in a small group, with recordings to support practice at home before considering the full cycle.

If you feel ready for that commitment, you're in the right place. If not, start with the discovery workshop — it will open the door, with no pressure.

The method

What IFSU
meditation aims at.

According to the teaching of Gururaj Ananda Yogi, IFSU Vedic meditation works beyond the conscious mind, where tensions accumulate.

“Meditation gradually takes us from being a slave to being the master of our life. We come to be more aware of the stable foundations of our being — and this serves us as an anchor during life's torments.”

Gururaj Ananda Yogi — The Path of Unfoldment

The philosophy

We don't develop
the mind. We unfold it.

IFSU stands for International Foundation for Spiritual Unfoldment. That word — unfoldment, or opening out — is at the heart of everything. The mind is already complete. It doesn't need improving. It needs the veils that cover it removed.

According to Gururaj Ananda Yogi, what there is to find already exists. It is enough to remove what covers it.

“It is the difference between sailing a boat on the surface of the ocean — battered by the waves — and diving into the depths. In the depths, you are no longer tormented by the waves, even though you are still aware of them.”

— Gururaj Ananda Yogi, Path of Unfoldment

Meditation does not suppress the impressions stored in the subconscious — the samskaras, as Gururaj calls them. It transcends them. It loosens their grip. And gradually, the veils lift.

The levels of the mind

Surface
Conscious mind
Thoughts, decisions, daily life. Governed by the subconscious.
↓
Below
Subconscious mind
Accumulated impressions, patterns, samskaras. Source of repeated tensions.
↓
Deeper
Superconscious mind
Our essential nature. Divine, universal, individual.

The aim
Self-realisation
When the veils are lifted. What Gururaj attained under the guidance of Pavitrananda.

IFSU meditation works at levels 2, 3 and 4 — not just at the surface.

The techniques

Prescribed for you.
Not for everyone.

Your DNA, your iris, your fingerprints — you're not identical to anyone. Why would your meditation be? Each IFSU practitioner receives a unique set of techniques, chosen for you and no one else.

They are passed on in session, not on a web page.

The Eternal Flame — nine wisdom traditions, one light

Founded in
1975
In Belgium since 1989

The origin

Gururaj
Ananda Yogi

Born in 1932 in Gujarat (India). At 5, he left the family home in search of a direct experience of the Divine. At 16, under the guidance of Swami Pavitrananda in the Himalayas, he attained what the traditions call Self-realisation.

He didn't stay in a Himalayan cave. Pavitrananda asked him to immerse himself in the Western world — to marry, raise a family, succeed in business — to better understand Westerners' lives before guiding them. Which he did.

“What I understand now is that true realisation is nothing like what one imagines. My mind, my body, my personality — they were only the reflection of my true Nature. I was the same energy as everything around me.”

Founding of IFSU
Within a year, 9 countries join. The method: prescribed individually for each person. No universal formula.
1975–1988
International teaching
He travelled nine months a year. Lectures at the most reputed universities. International symposiums. Tens of thousands of people supported.

A year after his death. The lineage continues, intact. It is this transmission that Marjorie carries in Ath.

What people say
who have started.

Three weeks of regular practice. And spontaneously I became the confident, assertive person I was meant to be. The same life was now joyful instead of stressful.
Rami
Retired teacher · 48 years of IFSU practice
In 2011, I lost my voice after 35 operations, my job, my marriage. Daily practice guided me through all of it. At no point was I afraid. I had a deep feeling that everything would be all right.
Ulla
Businesswoman
Even after 30 years of meditation, I'm still surprised by how quickly these energies show up. Life's challenges are easier to handle. My relationships are stronger.
Kamadev
Chef · practising since 1994
I was sceptical. I told myself: don't criticise before you've tried. With regular practice, I became more focused, more attentive, more grateful. Less agitated, less irritable.
Chris
Sales · 20 years of practice
Meditation isn't just something I do in my spare time — it's a way of life. When the dinner rush arrives and the orders pile up, it keeps me grounded and present. I've found how to turn stress into positive energy.

What you receive

Concretely,
here's how
it goes.

No mystery, no surprises. Here is exactly what happens, step by step.

1
No commitment
A private meeting — we talk
We meet in Ath, over a coffee. You ask all your questions. I explain the method concretely. We see together whether it's for you. No commitment, no pressure. If it isn't right for you at the moment, I'll tell you honestly — and that's OK. And if you'd rather start more gently, there's the Discovery workshop.
Duration: 30 minutes · Place: Ath · Contact: ifsu@etik.com
2
The 10-session cycle — your initiation
If you go ahead, your cycle begins. 10 individual sessions of 2 to 3 hours, over about 3 months. You receive your 4 techniques, prescribed for you. You learn to practise them, you check your progress, you adjust. Real follow-up — not a group training.
What you receive: Personal mantra (prescribed for you) · Tratak · Pranayama · Gurushakti · Understanding of the levels of the mind · Individual follow-up at every session · Access to the teachings of Gururaj Ananda Yogi
3
After the cycle
The Monday meditation group, online
The online Monday group is reserved for people who have completed the individual cycle and practise regularly. It brings together experienced practitioners: I do not explain the techniques again in this group. It is free, with no additional fees.
Meditation isn't a product you buy. It's something you practise.
Not in Ath?

The cycle also exists online, session by session, by video call — with the same individual follow-up as in person. Distance changes nothing about the precision of the work, only the place where you sit. Say so when you book, and we'll organise it together.

The full cycle
10 individual sessions · Personal follow-up · Monday group afterwards
That's €25 per 2–3 hour session with individual follow-up. Here, someone is working precisely for you.

Who teaches

I'm not
a guru.
I'm someone
who practises.

My name is Marjorie. I've practised IFSU Vedic meditation since 2013, passed on by Breeyana. I'm co-lead of IFSU French-speaking Belgium.

I don't sell the techniques: they come from the IFSU lineage, a non-profit association. You pay for my time: the sessions, the individual follow-up, the answers to your questions.

What you find in them, I have no access to. I give the framework and the tool, you do the work.

“If I realise this practice isn't for you, I'll tell you. If you'd like to talk it over before starting, contact me: we'll talk openly, with no commitment. I'd rather you had all the information before making the trip.”

Objections & questions

Real questions
deserve real answers.

What's the difference from breath- or thought-observation methods? +
According to the teaching of Gururaj Ananda Yogi, IFSU Vedic meditation aims to transcend the mind, not just observe it. It works at the subconscious and superconscious levels, where, according to the tradition, tensions have their roots.
Is it a cult? +
No. IFSU is non-sectarian, non-dogmatic, compatible with all beliefs — or none. Gururaj himself insisted that IFSU should not become a cult of the Guru. No doctrine to adopt. Our motto: if you're a Christian, you'll become a better Christian. If you're an atheist, you'll become a better person. These are techniques — like learning to swim. You don't need to believe. You practise and you observe.
How much time does it take each day? +
You start small: 20 minutes once a day, building up gradually. If this feels out of reach, Meditation Discovery offers a lighter framework: three Thursday evenings or two Saturday afternoons, with audio recordings for home practice.
Why €250 for the full cycle? +
€250 covers 10 individual sessions of 2 to 3 hours, or €25 per session, including follow-up. Payment in up to two instalments. The Monday group is reserved for people who have completed the individual cycle and practise regularly. It is free, with no additional fees; I do not explain the techniques again in this group.
Does it really work? +
I promise no result. I give you a precise method and I tell you what practitioners report. You judge from your own practice, not from my word. That's why we begin with a no-commitment meeting — and if you want to try without committing to the cycle, the Discovery workshop is made for that.
I don't believe in spirituality. +
No problem. You don't need to believe in it. What we teach: breathing techniques (pranayama), concentration techniques (tratak, mantra), exercises for coming back when thoughts spin. You can practise all of it without signing up to anything spiritual. If a spiritual dimension opens up over time, that's your choice — not an obligation.
Can I learn this on my own, from a book or a video? +
You can read a lot of things. Techniques prescribed for you can't be read. What matters is that it's given to you at the right moment, to your measure, and that it's corrected if it goes astray. A book can't see what you're doing. I can.
What if I can't do it, if I've never meditated? +
You have techniques to practise, not a performance to achieve. We look at difficulties together and adjust. If the individual cycle does not suit you yet, Discovery offers three Thursday evenings or two Saturday afternoons, in a group of up to five, with 15 recordings, a practice notebook and a practical guide.
What does a session look like? +
We meet in Ath, face to face (or by video call, if you're far away). You practise with me, I pass things on, we talk about what happened. Between sessions, you practise at home. I stay reachable if something sticks.
Do you hold my hand during the cycle? +
No. I give you the techniques, I help if you get stuck, I advise you. You do the work. That's what makes the practice solid: it belongs to you.
What happens if I stop partway? +
Nothing dramatic. You keep what you've received. If you resume later, we start from where you are, not from zero. But I'll tell you frankly if I sense that stopping is giving up rather than a choice.
Can I pay in instalments? +
Yes, in one or two payments at most, on dates we agree together. Write to me, we'll see what suits you.
Are there any contraindications? +
This practice is not a treatment. If you're going through a heavy psychological period, talk to your doctor or a health professional before starting, and tell me at our first conversation. I'd rather we postponed than you put yourself in difficulty. If you're already seeing a therapist, the two approaches are compatible — letting your therapist know is a good idea, they can tell you whether the time is right.
What if something unpleasant comes up during the practice? +
Unpleasant feelings can arise during or after meditation. The IFSU tradition describes these as a release of tension. You do not need to force yourself: if practice becomes too uncomfortable, stop and tell me so we can adapt the sessions. Meditation does not replace medical or psychological care. If needed, I will refer you to a professional.
Who can start? +
Any adult who is curious and ready to practise every day. No need for physical fitness, equipment or any particular level.
Is it compatible with my religion? +
Yes. The IFSU emblem represents 9 great wisdom traditions — Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, Confucianism, and Philosophy. The teaching contradicts none of these traditions. It can only deepen them.
IFSU

If you're curious,
that's already enough
to begin.

No need to be ready. No need for certainties. A question, a wish to see whether it's for you — that's enough for us to talk. And if the full cycle is still a big step, the Discovery workshop can be that lighter first step.
