Yoga that adapts to you.Not the other way round.

Viniyoga, in the lineage of Krishnamacharya and Desikachar. 90-minute sessions in Ath, in groups of six at most or one-to-one.

IFSU Studio, rue des Hauts-Degrés 20, 7800 Ath.

Viniyoga starts from a simple principle: there is no standard posture, there is your posture. Your body shape, your breath, what your body can do today. We adapt.

90-minute sessions in a small group. The breath leads. The movement follows. We take pauses and respect the limits of the day.

Tribute to Krishnamacharya

Lineage

Krishnamacharya

A yoga master of the 20th century. Central principle: yoga adapts to the person, never the other way round. Passed on by T.K.V. Desikachar.

The principles of Viniyoga

Sthira Sukham Āsanam

Stability and ease. The posture is not a performance — it is a balance between effort and release.

Breath first

Movement begins with the breath, never before. If the breath becomes choppy, we reduce the range.

Constant adaptation

Herniated disc, stubborn knees, office shoulders — every posture has variations. We work with what is there.

Group classes

Six people at most, at IFSU Studio. The number changes what can be corrected: a posture, a breath, an adjustment that can only be seen from this distance. We work together, but everyone moves according to what their body can do that day.

Six people. Never a number.

A session just for you

90 minutes · by appointment · IFSU Studio, Ath

No programme to follow. No group to keep up with. Just your body, that day, and 90 minutes built entirely around it.

How it is prepared

1

You fill in a form (history, pain, goal, what you expect from the session).

2

We talk by phone before the session, to refine what will be worked on.

3

The session itself: 90 minutes, entirely tailored to you — not a standard class adapted after the fact.

Who it is for

  • —chronic pain (back, shoulders, neck) that keeps coming back despite classic stretching
  • —a gentle return after a period without practice, at your own pace rather than a group’s
  • —you want to understand your own practice before joining a group class, without feeling lost on the first day
  • —you are preparing for a specific event (competition, busy period) and need targeted work

Significant medical condition (herniated disc, after surgery…): I am neither a physiotherapist nor a doctor. Your doctor’s agreement is essential before any session. Once you have it, start with a private session rather than a group class.

You leave with a practice you can genuinely continue on your own.

Private session

€45

per session, 90 minutes

Included: a personalised audio recording, to continue the practice at home between sessions.

  • —Prior form + phone conversation included
  • —IFSU Studio · Rue des Hauts-Degrés 20, Ath
  • —Free cancellation up to 48 hours before

You come because your body has been asking for something for a while.

The back that never forgets the desk

Neck, upper back, lower back: we work on spinal mobility and release, according to your possibilities. Sensations and progress vary from one person to another.

The head that never switches off

When the head stays busy, we take the time to observe the breath. We work on a comfortable breath, with a gradually longer exhale, to encourage calm, without forcing and without promising a result.

The flexibility you think you have lost

You don’t need to be flexible to start — flexibility is what comes afterwards, not a condition of entry. Every posture has a variation for the body you have today, not the one you would like to have.

I was looking for a place where I can switch off and think about myself… 62 years old and not sporty, I didn’t think I would find an activity that does my body and my head good at the same time. I was worried at first because I am neither flexible nor enduring, but I understood that you just have to want to do yourself good and take time for yourself.

Thank you for this lovely discovery; I look forward to Wednesday to reconnect with myself, gently.

Thank you Marjo and thank you to the Wednesday group, it is pleasant to feel good, without judgement and with kindness.

Pascale Labiau

Alongside running, I was looking for something gentler, and an activity to settle down, to do some good to this body that goes through a lot, and to think about nothing, no stakes and no performance here. No experience and no need to be flexible, everyone is adapted to their own level and their body is respected. I am really delighted and look forward to my session every week.

Heremans family

A moment to recharge. Exercises that adapt to your body and not the other way round. Sessions full of benefits for the body but also the mind. A bubble out of time!

France Fauviau

Yoga lets me relax mentally and physically. The relaxation sets in, the joints loosen, the muscles unwind and flexibility comes naturally. A little more with each session, with no notion of goal or performance, in small doses and repeated, for the well-being of body and mind.

About me

I am not a guru. I am someone who has been through the same thing as you.

I discovered yoga in 2011. IFSU Vedic meditation a few years later. Not as a hobby — as a necessity. These two practices gave me something nothing else had given me: an anchor, mental clarity, something to hold on to when life goes off the rails.

I have been teaching since 2014. Not to convince — to pass on what works.

My approach

Honest, direct, no frills. I don’t dress the practice up as “personal development”. I pass on techniques with respect for their lineage.

What I don’t offer

No miracle promises. No allegiance to sign. You come, you practise, you leave when you want. The aim is for you to become your own guide.

Student testimonials

Since I retired, I have been taking viniyoga classes with Marjorie Mathieu. I thought I wouldn’t manage, but Marjorie convinced me that viniyoga is within everyone’s reach. I feel so much better since I started her classes and I can only recommend Marjorie’s kind advice, an exceptional coach.

Chantal J. — Meslin-l’Évêque

I was looking for a yoga class to move gently and work on my mobility, without any fuss. The atmosphere is friendly, it is accessible to all levels and you don’t need to be flexible! The themes change every week, so you never get bored. In short, I highly recommend it!

Pascal P. — Ellezelles

Marjorie’s class suits all levels; she adapts each posture to your problems, explains the effect of the exercise and reassures by suggesting you don’t go beyond your capacities. Her voice is confident and reassuring, ideal for relaxation. Try it and you’ll adopt it!

Marie-Line D. — Mainvault

I was looking for a yoga class based more on awareness of breath and movement than on physical or acrobatic performance. Marjorie takes the time to set up the sessions and guides them in a gentle, structured way. And above all, she doesn’t take herself too seriously and doesn’t make us overthink. If you are looking for a moment of calm, renewal and turning inwards in a cosy setting, try viniyoga with Marjorie!

Bénédicte D.

My schedule is tight, and I wanted to be able to fit in, over the long term, 1h30 just for me. I had doubts, but I came anyway.

In the end, it is a real return on investment: my quality of life has improved, and I can’t wait to be there every week. It is an appointment where you settle in from the first minutes. The body loosens, softens, breathes, and you leave the place on a little cloud.

The class suits both a sporty day and a sedentary one: it simply rebalances. And Viniyoga with Marjorie also brings bubbles of humour in a kind atmosphere.

The questions people ask

I’m not flexible, is that a problem?

No. Flexibility is a consequence of the practice, not a condition of entry. Every posture has a variation suited to what your body can do today.

I have a herniated disc, a fragile back — can I come?

I am neither a physiotherapist nor a doctor: for a condition like a herniated disc, your doctor’s agreement comes first. Once that is given, it is better to start with a private session than a group class, so that I can adapt live.

I have never done yoga

Most of the group started that way. Six people at most means I can see what is happening for each person — including you.

Do I need any equipment?

A mat, comfortable clothes, a blanket or throw for the final relaxation. Nothing else.

What if I have to cancel?

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before.
